Armed Robber Carjacks Victim In Capital Region Neighborhood, Police Say

Police are investigating an armed carjacking that occurred in a residential neighborhood in the region.

The Schenectady County incident happened at around 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in the village of Scotia on Bruce Street.

The victim told police the suspect came up behind him and threatened him with a gun. The suspect then forcibly stole his car before fleeing toward North Ballston Avenue.

Officers later found the car abandoned several blocks away at the Cambridge Manor apartments.

Surveillance footage shared by police shows the suspect wearing a green jacket, black pants, and a face mask.

Investigators believe the incident was random and are encouraging residents to report anything suspicious.
